Swati Maliwal claims that after YouTuber Dhruv Rathee published a prejudiced video criticizing her, things became worse.
New Delhi: AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal stated on Sunday, that she has been the target of rape and death threats as a result of a “character assassination” campaign allegedly carried out by party executives and volunteers.
Things got hotter, according to her, as YouTuber Dhruv Rathee released a biased video condemning her.

‘After the leaders and volunteers of my party, the AAP, launched a campaign of victim shaming, character assassination, and inciting emotions against me,
I have been receiving threats of rape and death. Things got worse when I was the target of a prejudiced video produced by YouTuber @Dhruv_Rathee. On Sunday, Miss Maliwal wrote on X, which was Twitter at one point.
Swati Maliwal claims that the party leadership is trying to intimidate her into withdrawing her complaint. She expressed her displeasure with Dhruv Rathee as well, saying that she attempted to contact him and give him her version of events, but he would not answer her calls or messages.
‘It is hurtful to think that individuals like him, who work as editors and journalists and claim to be objective,
could act like other AAP supporters of journalism and victimize me,’ she went on. to a situation where I have been receiving severe harassment and threats.’
Ms. Maliwal listed many concerns that she felt were missed in Dhruv Rathee’s 2.5-minute film:
Dhruv Rathee, according to her, failed to mention the following: the causes of the AAP’s turnaround of events following admission of the assault;
the MLC report disclosing injuries received during the attack; the accused’s phone being formatted and part of the video becoming public;
the accused being taken into arrest from the crime site (CM residence). Why had he been allowed back into the building? For falsifying evidence?
How could a woman who consistently supported the right causes and even traveled to Manipur unaccompanied without protection be taken advantage of by the BJP?
‘The way that the party apparatus and its supporters have tried to discredit and malign me is clear evidence of their attitude toward women’s issues.
I’m reporting these threats of death and rape to @DelhiPolice. Maliwal said, ‘Hopefully, they take strong action to apprehend the offenders.”

On May 18, Bibhav Kumar was arrested in connection with the May 13 attack on Maliwal at the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Mr. Kumar, the former PS of Kejriwal, submitted a bail request to the local court on Saturday. The court has contacted Delhi Police, and it has asked for a response.
