Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture, said in a statement to the media on Monday in London that Obi should explain his claim that the leaked discussion was “a phony doctored audio call.”

“I must alert Nigerians about the recently released audio recording of a discussion between the priest and Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate.

Obi’s pleas with the priest to intervene on his behalf to persuade Christians that this is real in the leaked recording alarmed Nigerians They need to help him in a religious conflict, he argued.

The minister said that once the recording was published, Obi declared it to be “a phony, doctored audio call.”

“If it is phony, it implies it never happened,” the minister stated. But, if it has been doctored, it suggests that although the discussion did occur, it was altered.

Obi must publicly address the issue and clarify if the discussion actually happened or whether it was doctored.

Which particular aspect of it, if any, was altered?

Is it the “Yes Daddy” part of it or the part where he claimed it was a holy war? Is it the beginning, middle, or end?

Mohammed asserted that the tape leak supported the claim that Obi’s election campaign was centered on race and religion.

He said that this was the first election in Nigerian history when a candidate would openly use race and religion as campaign issues.

You can see by the results of the presidential election that Obi’s support came mostly from the neighborhoods where he was raised and from those who shared his religious beliefs.

“This is extremely hazardous and bad for Nigerian politics

Nigeria is now more divided than ever as a consequence of this type of advertising, and individuals are heard making comments based on their ethnicity or religious beliefs.

Several formerly reputable commenters are not forgotten on “This divided politics’ influence,” he remarked.

The audio tape, which was made public by an online site, purported to be a discussion between Bishop David Oyedepo,

the man who started the Living Faith Church Worldwide, and Obi.

Defending the validity of the recently held general elections and redressing the imbalance in the distorted narrative that had permeated the air on the polls were the minister’s stated goals while describing his journey to London.

He declared that he would inform the world, as he just did in Washington, that the 2023 election will be the most free in Nigerian history.

According to NAN, the minister is slated to speak with and meet with important think tanks headquartered in London and foreign media organizations.
