30 compressed natural gas buses with hybrid propulsion were unveiled at the State House in Abuja by President Bola Tinubu. This event marks a significant step in promoting cleaner transportation solutions within the region.
The buses were given by Depots and the Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria.
Tinubu emphasized the pressing need for Nigeria to utilize its abundant natural gas resources in the transportation sector during his remarks at the CNG bus launch on Monday.
The President declared that Nigeria must adopt CNG vehicles due to economic reasons, which represents a dramatic change in the nation’s views on energy use and public transportation.

The next best course of action, in his opinion, is to use natural gas to power Nigeria’s transportation sector.
As a remedy for the recent problems with high transportation costs that many Nigerians have been facing, Tinubu also emphasized CNG.
His spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelelae, released a statement. The President cited international examples, pointing out that since 2004, nations like India have required CNG for all commercial cars.
Tinubu said that the fuel use of commercial vehicles in Nigeria amounts to around 80% of the nation’s total petroleum consumption, resulting in monthly expenses of trillions of naira.
‘The answer is here, we have it, and we will work on it,’ Tinubu declared, assuring Nigerians that this change would result in improved circumstances and greater prosperity.
He emphasized that making use of Nigeria’s substantial gas reserves might boost the country’s energy competitiveness and result in revolutionary changes.
The Nigerian automaker Innoson Motors, with its headquarters in Anambra State, created and produced the hybrid CNG buses.
