Breaking News: Fire breaks out at Dangote Refinery.

On Wednesday, breaking news of a fire broke out at the Dangote refinery in Lagos’ Lekki Free Zone. Reacting to the event, Dangote Group’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer,

Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Oil and Gas at Dangote Industries Limited, accused the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority of providing indiscriminate licenses to marketers to import unclean refined goods into the country.

It should be noted that Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Oil and Gas of Dangote Industries Limited,

‘The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority has been accused of granting licenses to marketers to bring dirty, refined goods into the country without regard for their quality.’

However, after meeting with oil marketers and local crude oil refiners in Abuja, the agency rejected the events.

At the meeting, the parties discussed pricing difficulties for refined products, competitive issues, and the importation of Nigerian-produced items The oil marketers also indicated that,

while some refined products were produced by local refineries, this would not prevent them from purchasing products from other sources, as well as from indigenous producers.

In response to charges of importing unclean gasoline, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory,

authority indicated that refined petroleum products with excessive sulfur content were last imported in February and that the authority had since handled this issue.

Ogbugo Ukoha, the Executive Director of Transportation Systems, Storage, and Selling products Infrastructure of the NMDPRA,’

said this to journalists after the regulator concluded its meeting with oil marketers and local crude oil refiners, which also included officials from Dangote refinery and modular refineries.

‘There is no unclean fuel being introduced When asked to respond to claims leveled against the NMDPRA by a senior official from the Dangote refinery, Ukoha replied, ‘Into Nigeria.’
