Date:

Muhammadu Sanusi II, the reinstated Emir of Kano, is not being forced out by the police, State Security Service (SSS), or Nigerian military, according to Judge Amina Adamu Aliyu of the Kano High Court, which is located on Miller Road.

In addition to issuing the directive, Justice Aliyu trained security forces to refrain from detaining or intimidating the emir and his kingmakers.

The magistrate declared: ‘An order therefore granted a temporary prohibition prohibiting the parties in controversy from intimidating or harassing anyone else, either directly or through their representatives, assigns, privies, agents, or other representatives.

‘accepting the applicants (Gidan Rumfa), his servants, and/or any of the Kano Emirate kingmakers to enter, arrest, or otherwise disturb the applicants’ personal or official residence with the intent of interfering with the applicants’ rights generally with regard to this suit while the motion is being heard and decided.

‘That in order to prevent the Respondents from attempting to take, pick, commandeer, or seize any of the twin spears of authority—the Royal Hat of Dabo, the Ostrich-feathered shoes, the knife and sword of the Emir of Kano—as well as other symbols of authority—an order of interim injunction is therefore without question.

The order of interim injunction is hereby made to prevent the Respondents from taking any further action in relation to the matter or to maintain the status quo of stopping all activity until the hearing and determination of the application on notice.

‘Furthermore, it is ordered that the Respondents refrain from interfering with the Applicant’s functions and duties as the Emir of Kano until after the hearing and the decision made on notice dated May 28, 2024.’

The hearing on the notice motion is postponed until June 13, 2024.
Aminu Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano, was ordered to leave the Nassarawa small palace by Justice Aliyu, according to a Viztadaily publication on Monday.
