According to Swiss media, Erling Haaland may spend a day in jail the next time he enters Switzerland. In one of the strangest stories this week, the Manchester City superstar has made headlines in Switzerland. Haaland has allegedly failed to pay a 65 euro fine and may now have to spend a day in jail.
At least that’s what Blick claims, and he reports that, astonishingly, Haaland’s name appeared in the Vaud ‘Official Gazette’ on October 25th.
Haaland was fined 65 euros (60 francs) for an unspecified infringement, but he still has to pay the fine. Of course, it’s just a ‘tiny amount’, but if he really refuses to withdraw the money, he could spend up to a day in prison the next time he steps on Swiss soil.
The psychic half-jokingly says it would be a shame if the striker was a day late to the Christmas party at his father’s house. Since 2023, ‘Alf-Inge Haaland’ has been living in Andermatt, near the Italian border’.
Haaland’s new contract with Man City
65 euros is a huge drop in the bucket considering Haaland’s income, because Manchester City are working hard behind the scenes to get the Norwegian a new contract.
It was recently reported that the 24-year-old could earn up to 120 million euros in a contract extension to encourage him to postpone his dream of playing in Spain for a few years.
Having spent a lot of time with his family in Spain during his childhood, Haaland is known to be attracted to La Liga, with both Barcelona and Real Madrid considering him his ‘dream destination’ for the future.
However, for now, Manchester City are confident of reaching an agreement with the sniper.
The Citizens know they cannot get rid of his release clause, which is decreasing with each passing year, but they also know they can further delay his inevitable departure.
