The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) announced on Friday that they will work together to combat cybercrime and other new criminal threats.

To further their collaboration, FBI Director Christopher Wray and EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede met on Friday in Abuja.
Olukoyede was escorted by senior EFCC officers, and Wray led a group of elite FBI officials.
The agencies have long-standing cooperation, and this meeting aims to take it to the next level, according to a statement released by EFCC spokesman Dayo Oyewale, According to reports, the FBI director said,
‘We have had a relationship over the years and this is a reflection of how stronger than ever we are looking forward to taking our ‘collaboration to ever-higher heights in order to combat dangers that have an impact on both the Nigerian and American people.’
We have a lot in common when it comes to principles and priorities, and I want to thank you for your amazing cooperation. We appreciate your hospitality and especially the cooperation between the EFCC and the FBI in addressing the many risks we jointly confront.
The EFCC chairman, for his part, outlined the commission’s new strategy, which addresses contract violations through e-procurement, public education, preventative measures and fraud in the procurement process.
Olukoyede declared, ‘We appreciate the collaboration between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
This collaboration has existed for years and serves both parties’ interests.
