Hail Makinde as Tinubu unveils the 76-kilometer Oyo road.

Vice President Kashim Shetima, on behalf of Tinubu, praised Governor Seyi Makinde advancements in the field of infrastructural development.


The vice president stated that national growth in Nigeria could only occur when individual states improved their infrastructure.

We are gathered here today to commemorate an outstanding tradition that Oyo State is proud of. Governor Makinde has demonstrated that a country’s well-built road system is its entryway to its economy.

‘We are here to inaugurate the 76.67 km Alao-Akala Memorial Highway, which connects settlements within the state and also assumes the role as a vital link.’ to a different geopolitical zone within our country. Through the connections it makes between farmers and consumers, employees and employers, and learners and educational institutions, this project will stimulate the local economy.

‘I applaud the governor’s commitment to establishing a legacy initiative. The future will be good to you, my brother.

Nonetheless, he gave his word that the president would back the state’s agricultural growth.

Makinde pledges to build infrastructure

Speaking at the occasion, Makinde said that his conviction that well-maintained roads will promote growth was what motivated him to construct a network of highways connecting the state’s five zones.
He continued by saying that the state’s efforts to disperse development under his administration had been successful because the money coming in to the state from a single source.

Makinde once observed, “Development follows the road.” This catchphrase has served as the foundation for our ongoing efforts to construct a network of roads connecting every area of our beloved state.

We began in 2021 with the 65-kilometer Moniya-Iseyin Road’s commissioning. We then relocated to Oyo. After receiving permission from the federal government, we finished and put the 34.85 km Oyo-Iseyin road into service. We discovered that the Oke-Ogun zone and the Ogbomoso zone were not connected by a road. Thus, this project that we are presenting to you today is what we had in mind.

The governor revealed that the 48-kilometer Ido-Eruwa road will be built during the next eight months, emphasizing that the ongoing Fasola Food manufacturing Industrial Several large and medium-sized domestic and international enterprises would be housed in Hub.

‘This year, we’re going to start something similar in Eruwa and Ijaiye.

Thus, we’ll keep closing the infrastructure gap and lifting more people out of poverty and into wealth.

‘Our solemn pledge is to continue doing everything within our power to bring development to our people as we celebrate five years of Omituntun in Oyo State,’ Makinde said in closing.

Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Bayo Lawal; former First Lady of Oyo State, Mutiat Ladoja; acting PDP National Chairman, Umar Damagum; PDP Deputy National Chairman (South), Taofeek Arapaja; former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Abdul Rahman AbdulRazak, were among the dignitaries present at the event. Among them are the governors of Oyo State, Hamid Gbadamosi and Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarunmi.
