Kano Ulamas Ask Tinubu To Approve A Peaceful Resolution To The Kano Emirate Conflict

President Bola Tinubu has been urged by Islamic experts, in Kano to let the people handle the present Emirate conflict without resorting to force.


The request was made on Saturday morning in the midst of a tight security presence surrounding the two Kano palaces.

The recent unrest in the emirate has alarmed Islamic experts, who have called on the Federal Government to act quickly to preserve order.

The Ulamas issued a warning that, if not handled correctly, the situation would spiral into chaos in a statement that was signed by Shaikh Abdullahi Uwais Limanci.

Despite its complicated political structure, Kano State is among the most peaceful states in Nigeria. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu must act now. take all required action to preserve state peace,’ the statement said.

The professors emphasized how crucial it is to let the Kano people settle their differences peacefully and avoid using force, which can result in the loss of life and property.
They emphasized how crucial it is to have a respectful conversation in order to resolve the present conflicts.

‘We are pleading with Mr. President to permit the people of Kano State to settle these disputes peacefully, without resorting to any kind of force that might result in the loss of lives and property,’ they said.


In addition, the Council urged the contending parties to resolve their issues amicably and peacefully, stressing that using force would only make matters worse.

They promised to arbitrate and attempt to out to all parties concerned in an attempt to mediate a peaceful conclusion.

‘As significant state stakeholders, we would like to reassure Mr. President that we will make contact with potential candidates.

As a result, neither the violent enforcement of any command nor the violent opposition to it is necessary,’ the statement went on.

The dethronement of former Emir Aminu Ado Bayero and the installation of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II have escalated tensions, prompting the Ulamas to urge for peace.

Right now, the two groups are living in separate palaces in the state capital.

Around the Nasarawa Palace, where the deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero has been living, military soldiers have taken up positions.

Governor Yusuf and his entourage, as well as the restored Emir Sanusi II, are still at the Kano Emir Palace as a demonstration of support against what they see to be excessive meddling.
