The Labour Party (LP) branch in Lagos has requested that the federal government look into the “astronomical” increase in the rates that certain electricity users in the nation must pay.
Olubunmi Odesanya, the publicity secretary for the LP in Lagos, stated that the raise is “unreasonable” in an interview with NAN on Sunday. She also mentioned that Nigerians are already facing financial difficulties.

Every day, Nigerians are the ones who suffer the most. It’s just not working this way. Many Nigerians are in hardship, the speaker stated.
“Hardships are currently plaguing Nigerians. The government ought to understand that the people are the foundation of any government.
It is time to reassess this ridiculous increase in power prices.
The economy is harmed by the hike as well, not just electricity users, according to the Labour Party’s media secretary.
Odesanya went on to say that the tariff increase shouldn’t have gone up to 25 percent.
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) authorized an increase in pricing for Band A consumers on April 3.
Customers on B and A are those that have access to power for 20 to 24 hours a day.
Only 1.5 million of the 12 million consumers, according to Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, are impacted by the tariff increase.
