Nollywood: Kanayo Kanayo: YouTube won’t be a viable platform in Nigeria

Date:

The abundance of Nigerian performers and producers on YouTube has alarmed veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O Kanayo.
He pointed out that the common practice of casting aspiring actors for rigorous one-day filming on YouTube was bad for their long-term sustainability and professionalism.

Nollywood: Kanayo Kanayo

Kanayo criticized the practice of demanding outrageous rates for one-day shootings, in which actors are expected to do multiple sequences in a condensed amount of time, in an Instagram video.
He stated that actors’ health may be impacted by such stressful working conditions.
Kanayo emphasized how Nigerian actors prioritize short-term advantages over sustainable methods, demonstrating a lack of expertise and forethought.

In closing, Kanayo expressed his opinion that YouTube’s existence in Nigeria might decrease if this kind of usage of the platform persists.

Block by block, brick by brick, we constructed Nollywood, he said, “but the actors who have taken over YouTube, not the producers, have no idea why they are there or how to establish a process for making content or a long-lasting videography.

Consider the irony of a one-day shoot as an example. It can’t last. These days, some of them really complicate things for producers. They claim that a day shot costs either N1.5 million or N1 million. It cannot continue.

“Unfortunately, the extremely esteemed colleague who initiated this one-day shoot is not doing well. Why? I am aware that everyone who assigns you work wants it completed. They bundle You have enough to complete in a single day. Thirty-five scenes out of thirty.

While the majority of you may be content to say, “I have everything I need for the next six months,” your health”I have no ill will toward you; however, I hope that you experience good health as those of us who began 38 years ago.” Make all the money you want, but in my opinion, the damage you are causing to professionalism won’t endure for long. The YouTube platform won’t be around for very long in Nigeria.
