The modified Kano Emir statute of 2024 is not to be implemented, according to an order given by Justice Ahmad, Liman of the Federal High Court located in Kano.
The court’s ruling will postpone Muhammadu Sanusi II’s return to the position of Emir of Kano.
Alhaji Aminu Bappa Dan Agundi, also known as Sarkin Dawaki Babba, sued the Kano State government in court, requesting a stay on the new law’s implementation, which had been passed by the Kano State House of Assembly.

Following the applicant’s presentation, the court mandated that the Kano State Emirate Council (Repeal) Law, 2024 be implemented and operated. (1445 AD) be put on hold.

You may remember that the Emirate Council Law 2019 of the State, which established four more emirate councils in the state, was repealed by the Kano State House of Assembly.
Similarly, Emir Aminu Ado Bayero was overthrown and Muhammadu Sanusi II was reinstalled as the Emir of Kano after Abba Yusuf, the governor of Kano State, signed the modified bill.
