The Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice Nigeria, Dr. Busola Tejumola,

said during a media event held at the MultiChoice studios on Tuesday that the reality music talent show saw a 10% rise in the number of submissions compared to the previous editions.

The program garnered almost 10,000 audition entries the previous season.

Because of the time, effort, and creativity invested in the show each season, there has been an astonishing rise in the number of submissions.

Nigerian Idol, a forum for young musicians to demonstrate their abilities to the world, has always existed.

Tejumola says that the candidates’ enjoyment and healthy competition over the show’s previous seven seasons contributed to the emergence of deserving victors.

Progress Chukwuyem took home the N30 million award as the winner the previous year. The winner of this year’s contest will get N35 million as well as additional prizes.

Oladapo Oyebanjo, alias D’Banj, Simisola Kosoko, called Simi, and creative industry entrepreneur Obi Asika are among the best performers on the Season 8 judges’ panel.

IK Osakioduwa, the show’s host, is also returning with his humorous banter and enthusiasm.

On April 23, the program will make its debut, beginning with the taped auditions. Beginning on May 28,

the live broadcasts will follow the contenders as they compete for the grand prize until July 16, when the winner is announced.
