The Senate’s plenary session made the decision to suspend Senator Abdul Ningi (PDP-Bauchi), according to Mr. Umeh Kalu (SAN), the president’s counsel. Akpabio did not make this decision.
Ningi’s suspension
This was said by Kalu in a letter titled “Re: Request to Lift the Suspension of Sen. Abdu Ningi, which was delivered to journalists on Thursday in Abuja and conveyed to human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN).
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Ningi was given a three-month suspension by the Senate on March 12th due to the accusation that the 2024 Budget was padded.
“We are solicitors to Sen. Godswill Akpabio and write you regarding the aforementioned subject,” requested Kalu in the letter.
We have been asked to reply to your letter dated March 27th, which has the caption mentioned above.
“We have carefully read your analysis of the incidents and circumstances that resulted in your client’s Senate suspension.
“We thus plead non est factum on behalf of our client because we are unable to find justification in your verdict of our client’s sole culpability in the said suspension.”
In addition to the aforementioned, the letter states that “our client was at no point your client’s accuser, prosecutor, or judge, contrary to the contents of your letter under reference.”
