The fire event that resulted from a tanker transporting Premium Motor Spirit sometimes known as gasoline, which burned drivers and commuters beyond recognition and damaged multiple vehicles, was deemed extremely unfortunate by Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

According to Fubara, if the drivers had been more cautious, the collision might have been prevented.
The popular and extremely busy Eleme portion of the East-West Road, which is currently undergoing significant restoration by the Federal Government, is where the tragedy happened on Friday night, between Aleto Bridge and Indorama Gate.
Fubara conveyed sorrow over the the graphic scenes he witnessed on his Saturday morning visit to the location of the event with Olatunji Disu, the state commissioner of police, and Mr. Uchechukwu Nwafor, the commissioner of energy and natural resources.
This was said in a statement that the Chief Press Secretary emailed to newsmen and gave to Governor Nelson Chukwudi.

Fubara reported that he received a call about the incident from the Managing Director of Indorama Petrochemical and Fertilizer Company Limited in the Eleme Local Government Area.
When he learned of the occurrence, Fubara claimed he called the security services right away and gave them instructions to come to the scene and take control of the area’s security in order to prevent the situation from getting worse.
Fubara declared, “Our purpose for being here is to observe firsthand and obtain firsthand information about the incident that occurred last night.”At approximately 7:30 or 8:00 p.m., we learned how serious the incident was. I was informed that a tanker truck carrying Premium Motor Spirit was to blame.
‘I ensured absolutely sure the security officials took control of the local security situation as soon as I received the latest developments from the MD of Indorama.
Furthermore, based on our observations this morning, the case was not amicable. Numerous cars were wrecked and fatalities were reported.
Fubara clarified that he had already asked the pertinent government organizations to give him a thorough report of their results to help the State Government make the right choices and take the necessary steps to greatly improve the situation and lessen the adverse effects on the impacted parties.
I have immediately asked the relevant agencies for a thorough brief so that we may thoroughly evaluate the situation and decide how to support those who have lost a loved one while also mitigating the impact of the losses, which, in my opinion, are not the fault of many of them.
‘Every single person knows how bad this road is. It is quite regrettable. The majority of our folks should use caution when driving on this road.I firmly feel that if the drivers had acted appropriately, this tragedy might have been avoided. However, it’s late already. The harm has already occurred. This is the dilemma that we are facing. We’ll see if we can manage the fallout,” he continued.
