Well-known transgender person Idris Okuneye, also referred to as Bobrisky, was sentenced by a Federal High Court in Lagos to six months in prison without the possibility of a fine.

Remember that on Friday, April 5, 2024, Bobrisky was arrested and charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFFC), and on that same Friday, Judge Abimbola Awogboro judged him guilty of abusing and mutilating the Naira notes.
The EFCC had accused Bobrisky of tampering with N490,000 through spraying, and the court had set a date for punishment after Bobrisky entered a guilty plea.
Justice Awogboro claims that the decision will deter people who take pleasure in misusing and destroying Nigerian currency.
But the judge ordered Bobrisky’s incarceration nonetheless. However, the Judge ordered that Bobrisky’s incarceration start on March 24, 2024, the day of his arrest.
There was a little drama in the courtroom on Friday before the convict’s sentence was announced. The judge asked Bobrisky about his sex, to which he quickly replied that he was a guy.
