The Assembly impeached the deputy governor on Monday following its adoption of the findings from the seven-member inquiry panel that was tasked with looking into the serious misconduct charges leveled against him.

Shaibu was charged by the Assembly with lying and disclosing state government secrets.
Additionally, it said that Shaibu’s alleged offenses were impeachable.
This occurs in the midst of a protracted disagreement between the deputy governor and Governor Godwin Obaseki.
The accusation was issued by the Assembly last Wednesday, presenting its case at the accusation was made by the Assembly last Wednesday during the opening session of the seven-member panel that Justice Daniel Okungbowa, the state’s chief judge, had assembled to investigate the deputy governor.
