Lack of fuel: FG starts a 15-day emergency fuel supply

The Federal Government claims to have started a 15-day emergency Lack of fuel supply to make sure the commodity is available throughout the entire nation as the effects of fuel scarcity are growing increasingly severe in different regions of the country.

The government also disclosed that ships carrying the highest quality motor spirit would continuously dock at the coast to discharge gasoline into several depots, which would then disperse the commodity to various gas stations.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria claimed that eight vessels had been delivering 300 million liters of fuel to its members in Apapa and other parts of Lagos this week.

As the lack of fuel continued to affect Nigerians, a large number of Ogun State citizens on Wednesday turned to walking from place to place.

This occurred as a result of the transportation costs surging due to the ongoing fuel crisis.
According to one of our correspondents, some inhabitants turned to trekking while many stayed at home as more gas outlets closed and commercial drivers were unable to obtain gasoline.

When our correspondent visited Abeokuta on Wednesday, he or she saw largely empty roads and few cars.

Locals heading to far-off places were seen waiting at several bus stops for transportation when none was available.

Speaking with one of our correspondents, one of the travelers, Mrs. Adeyemi Oni, voiced her dissatisfaction with the state of affairs and urged all tiers of government to act quickly.

One of our journalists was informed by a driver named Kazeem Aderemi that he had been waiting in line for hours at the NNPC gas station on the MKO Abiola Way.
As of Wednesday, when the ViztaDaily filed this report, only one of the many stations along Ikotun-Igando Road was dispensing PMS.

The substance was offered for N999 per litre at a God’s Decision store on Governor’s Road in the Ikotun neighborhood of Lagos State.

Even if other stations, such as the NNPCL, Mobile, and NIPCO, would not provide fuel, drivers would not get out of the lines.

At the Total fueling station beside to Isolo General Hospital, where The ViztaDaily saw a lengthy line, While the Jezco filling station near Chemist Bus Stop supplied fuel for N660 per liter, fuel was sold for N580.

When our correspondent visited the TechnOil at the Ire-Akari crossroads on Wednesday, fuel was being dispensed at N560 per litre, although there was a large line of cars.

Additionally, PMS was being sold by the black marketers at the NNPC intersection for between N1,000 and N1,200 per liter.

Along Palm Avenue approaching Mushin, the Mobil gas station charged N565 per liter, whereas on the highway near the NAHCO Bus Stop, the black marketers charged between N1,000 and N1,500 per liter.
