According to The Nation, AY acknowledged that his marriage is failing but promised not to share any private details about his family with the world.

The comic acknowledged that he had done certain things for which he isn’t proud and expressed sadness at the loss of his 20-year friendship and marriage.

The actor, who was going through a divorce, posted a video collage of his stunning 15-year-old daughter on Instagram with the message, “Benefits.

But the post did not set right with me with many Nigerians, as others cautioned AY not to use his kids as weapons after his marriage to Mabel collapsed.

Some criticized his message, saying it was full of conceit and haughtiness, and urged him to improve.

“Resist this temptation as much as possible,” commented favor_limiless, “as the temptation to use kids as weapons when a marriage fails is usually very strong.”

The advantages of marriage extend much beyond having kids, being in a partnership, working as a team, being friends, etc.

The greatest blessing of our existence is being able to share it with someone else. Your daughter has a right to privacy, therefore it would not be wise to expose her right now.

She would probably prefer her parents together, so please respect her privacy and leave her out of this A respectable man should swallow his pride in such a situation and abstain from any measures that will cause more lashing out and further expose his family to public debate.

Don’t weaponize your child by calling her “benefits”—the world knows she is.

Aghogho Mena contended that the 20-year connection had a “benefit.” Your caption is arrogant and misinformed. You gained, allowing everything else to burn.

Perhaps you are posting a “benefit” to your daughter because your ex-wife is with the baby. It seems that you have shared the children. The baby is your ex-wife, and Michelle is your gain. You should really be Ose.

Benefits? written eghimonu. What a juvenile and self-centered caption.
Adeyinkadayo said:

“This thought-provoking post might just get the alleged start of the mental anguish for this lovely child, despite the father’s claims that he was trying to prevent it.”

“My respect for AY is enormous,” cute_mjt wrote. That being said, this post is not required. “Advantage”? While many people can read meanings, others are wise.

There is no need for this post. Naturally, everyone is aware of the reference you made. You never loved and cherished your wife if that’s all the 20 years of marriage brought you.

This is blatantly disrespectful. Matrimony has benefits beyond children.

It’s unity, respect, and worth for a lifetime. The timing is off, sir, or your post is out of order. You’re capable of more. May you all be able to come to an agreement. Light and love.

twist_gender argued: “You’re concerned about her mental health health, and you’ve got that caption there, gentleman.

‘Nigerians enduring hardship’: LP begs FG to rethink electricity pricing rise.

'Nigerians enduring hardship'

“People in Nigerians are suffering,” says LP, urging FG to reevaluate raising electricity rates.

The Labour Party (LP) branch in Lagos has requested that the federal government look into the “astronomical” increase in the rates that certain electricity users in the nation must pay.

Olubunmi Odesanya, the publicity secretary for the LP in Lagos, stated that the raise is “unreasonable” in an interview with NAN on Sunday. She also mentioned that Nigerians are already facing financial difficulties.

Every day, Nigerians are the ones who suffer the most. It’s just not working this way. Many Nigerians are in hardship, the speaker stated.

“Hardships are currently plaguing Nigerians. The government ought to understand that the people are the foundation of any government.

It is time to reassess this ridiculous increase in power prices.
The economy is harmed by the hike as well, not just electricity users, according to the Labour Party’s media secretary.

Odesanya went on to say that the tariff increase shouldn’t have gone up to 25 percent.
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) authorized an increase in pricing for Band A consumers on April 3.

Customers on B and A are those that have access to power for 20 to 24 hours a day.

Only 1.5 million of the 12 million consumers, according to Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, are impacted by the tariff increase.

Matters pertaining to Nigeria’s new electricity pricing

the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission continued

Not surprisingly of new electricity pricing, but with some sadness, yesterday’s power press briefing has been all about the “freezer” comment. It’s helpful to know that a lot more was said since it provides context and a foundation for discussion and argument.

I took notes during HM Bayo Adelabu’s speech, and the remarks that follow are attributed to him (as well as the NERC vice-chair, who also spoke).

The crucial context to all of this is that, as of right now, the threefold electricity tariff rise implemented this week only affects Band A customers. A through E comprise the total of 5 tariff bands. Band A is the group that will receive at least 20 hours of supply every day]

Nigeria’s new electricity pricing

1. The federal government of Nigeria was subsidizing 67% of the total cost of producing, transferring, and distributing power prior to the price change.

The vice-chair of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission continued, “That 67% figure rises considerably if you isolate generation.” For instance, in January 2024, DisCos received an invoice for 240 billion naira’s worth of power generation; however, they were only required to pay 24 billion of this amount, or 10%, meaning that FGN was subsidizing 90% of the cost of generating.

2. Without tariff adjustments, the estimated total cost of the electricity subsidy (on FGN) for 2024 is ~2.9 trillion naira (~240 billion per month).

3. The total projected cost of subsidies in 2024, after tariff adjustments: ~114 billion per naira, or ~1.4 trillion month)

4. The number of Band A “feeders” in the nation has decreased in tandem with the tariff increase; these feeders are those that are required to provide a minimum of 20 hours of supply every day. Only 481 of the approximately 1,000 Band A feeders that existed earlier are currently categorized as such.

5. There are roughly 12 million “customers” for energy in Nigeria. Before you jump to judgment, please attempt to grasp this. It refers to 12 million “meter-able” consumption sites, such as homes, businesses, etc., not 12 million “people.”

6. Band A represents approximately 1.8 million, or 15%, of the 12 million electrical users. The government will keep providing electricity consumption subsidies to the remaining >10 million users.

(In connection with this, I’ve seen data elsewhere indicating that 70% of the money received in 2023 came from Band A (it’s important to verify that number).

7. Just slightly more than 5 million of the 12 million subscribers are currently metered. It translates to a metering gap above 6 million.

8. The short-term subsidized pricing scheme will persist, with a “transition plan” to achieve fully “cost-reflective” pricing within the following three years.

9. The tariff increase’s restriction to Band A is intended to act as a “proof of concept,” starting with a Band that possesses the “capacity and willingness” to cover the cost of supplies for 20 to 24 hours each day.

10. The price adjustment will assist in resolving some of the industry’s liquidity problems and provide a “line of sight” for restoration of investment and increase its “bankability”.

11. There is a severe lack of infrastructure in the power industry; vandalism of gas pipelines, grid towers, and other infrastructure, as well as outdated equipment at all levels (the minister mentioned that some equipment still bore the ECN brand, despite the company having been out of business for more than 50 years).

12. DisCos must face penalties and repercussions if they provide Band A customers with fewer than 20 hours of service. “We won’t duck our responsibilities…,”

(In reference to this, the vice-chair of NERC stated that the previous Power Sector Reform Act had restricted NERC’s authority to impose sanctions and that DisCo fines were antiquated, with some as low as N10,000 per day).

However, with the new Act, which was approved by PBAT (see No. 15 below), giving NERC more authority over punishments and regulations. Vice-Chairman used the example of 2018—when NERC suspended the IBEDC Board—and 2024—when NERC successfully dissolved the Board of KEDC. The Board proceeded to court to have the suspension lifted.

13. DisCos are now encouraged to strive on moving other Bands to Band A in order to provide them with Band A threshold and charge Band A tariffs, thanks to the new tariff system for Band A.

14. Consumer management of energy use needs to take precedence. This is where the now-viral “freezer” scenario was mentioned. Indeed, it’s definitely not the best example to give, since the distracting consequences, but the main idea of using technology more sensibly still applies.

15. The Minister underlined the continuous efforts to enhance the provision of electricity:

—The Electric Power Sector Reform Act of 2005 was overturned by the new Electricity Act, which PBAT approved, completely decentralized the industry and gave subnational governments more authority over licensing and regulation.
—Investments in renewable energy, headed by REA
—New power plants, like as the 700 MW Zungeru Hydropower project that was just finished; —Investments in new lines, injection substations, and transformers
—Closing the space for metering.
—Interactions and promotion

16. “A thousand miles of travel begin with one step, taken in the correct direction. This is going in the right way. — Bayo Adelabu.

Ododo, APC to begin defense on April 15 at Kogi tribunal

Ododo, APC to begin defense

Usman Ododo, the governor of Kogi State, and the All Progressives Congress, his party, will begin their defense at the state’s governorship election tribunal in Abuja on April 15.

The announcement of Ododo as the poll’s winner is being contested by the Social Democratic Party and Muritala Ajaka, their candidate for governor on November 11, 2023.

With 446,237 votes, Ododo defeated Ajaka, his closest opponent, who received 259,052 votes. Dino Melaye, a candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, came in third place with 46,362 votes.

The SDP and Ajaka concluded their argument on Friday, and the three-member panel, presided over by Justice Ado Birnin-Kudu, set the date.
Initially, the petitioners had said Only 25 of the 400 witnesses they had were called.

The petition named the APC, Ododo, and Independent National Electoral Commission as the first, second, and third respondents, in that order.

On Friday, when the case was called, Jibrin Okutepa (SAN) attempted to summon Edidiong Udoh, a digital forensic expert witness, as the main witness. However, Kanu Agabi (SAN), the counsel for INEC, Alex Iziyon (SAN), and Emmanuel Ukala (SAN), the attorney for Ododo, all objected.
They claimed that the witness’s identity was omitted from the petitioners’ proof of evidence and that the sworn witness statement was not frontloaded with the petition.

Additionally, they said that the reports of the analysis were delivered to them by the petitioners’ attorney twenty minutes before to the start of the proceedings.
However, Okutepa emphasized that the forensic expert’s declaration was front-loaded and that it was included as item 10 on page 56 of the petition.

He did acknowledge, nevertheless, that the respondents had received the report just minutes prior to the hearings.

Thus, the attorney implored the tribunal to grant him permission to provide Udoh as evidence and to adjourn the case for half an hour so that the respondents may review the report.

Udoh requested permission from the tribunal to change Paragraph 7, Line 3 of his sworn statement, which he filed on January 12, 2024, prior to the tribunal accepting it.

“The specific phrases I used weren’t appropriate. There was some extremely dubious software, I commented. I request that it be changed He prayed to “‘there was no suspicious software used.'”
Iziyon, Ukala, and Agabi, however, disapproved of Udoh’s oral application.

Agabi stated, “There is no kind of amendment that cannot be permissible if this kind of amendment is permissible.”

The responders were advised by the judge to save their concerns until their last written statements.
Udoh claimed to have 12 certifications to back up his credentials when testifying.

The attorneys for the respondents protested when Okutepa attempted to submit the witness certificates as exhibits.

They questioned why the attorney only wanted to provide photocopies of the certifications rather than the actual paperwork to bolster the claims.

In response, the witness said he didn’t bring the original certificates.
“The originals were inadvertently left in my Port Elizabeth office. Harcourt, but they’re mine,” Udoh remarked.

The petitioners’ attorney argued that the certificates might be included since they were personal documents, even if the panel rejected the reproductions.

Judge Birnin-Kudu acknowledged receipt of the materials and asked the respondents’ attorneys to hold off on raising objections until the last speech.

When asked if he was the sole expert who worked on the report during the cross-examination, the witness responded that eight other experts collaborated with him on it.

It was brought to his notice that he was not signing the names of the experts in the report, nor were their signatures included.

Udoh retorted that since he was the team leader, his name and signature were on the report. head.
“Eight of us conducted the analysis,” Udoh stated. Our qualifications as digital forensic specialists are the same.

As the team leader, I signed the report. Since I was in charge of the team, I did not include their name.
Inquiries about the witness’s knowledge of the contents and significance of the BVAS Machine were also made.
According to him, they were meant to include data on registered voters, accredited voters, and any other relevant information.

When the respondent’s attorney asked if Form EC8A was included in this material, he replied that it might be.

Next, the attorney for the respondents questioned whether Form EC8A was present in each and every BVAS Machine snapshot that was included in his report.

According to Udoh, only registered voters could access the photos.Form EC8A is one of the forms that should be included in BVAS according to the INEC guidelines.

He responded “no” when asked if he looked at the ballots and if his conclusions were included in his report.

He did, however, affirm that he received the voters registration from INEC, though he was unable to recall the number.

Just now: Bobrisky Found Guilty of Naira Abuse; April 9 Sentence

Just now: Bobrisky

Idris Okuneye, often known as Bobrisky, is a controversial cross-dresser and social media personality. The Federal High Court in Lagos has scheduled a sentencing date for April 9, 2024.

Following Bobrisky’s guilty plea to a four-count charge of Naira misuse brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Justice Abimbola Awogboro set a date for his decision.

The convict’s remand in EFCC custody until his sentencing was decided by the judge.

At precisely 11:55 a.m., the court called the case, with Mr. Sulaiman Sulaiman declaring his appearance on behalf of the EFCC and Mr. Ayo Olumofin representing the defendant.

Bobrisky was then told by Justice Awogboro to reveal his face, which was hidden behind a black scarf. He obeyed.
Bobrisky was the subject of a six-count charge from the EFCC. The charge’s final two counts deal with accused money laundering, while the first four charges were on alleged Naira abuse.

However, the EFCC prosecutor Sulaiman sought the court to strike out counts five and six prior to the defendant being read the charges.

He said, Due to a deal we have with the defendant, counts 5 and 6 will be withdrawn. We respectfully request that the court reject counts 5 and 6, keeping counts 1 through 4 in tact under the current circumstances.
After granting his request, Justice Awogboro ordered the four-count accusation to be read to the prisoner and struck out the first two counts.
Bobrisky entered a guilty plea to all four charges.

He responded, “Yes, I am guilty,” when the registrar inquired if he had comprehended the charge after it had been read to him.

After that, the EFCC prosecutor went over the case’s facts. He brought Mr. Bolaji Temitope, an Assistant Superintendent of the EFCC, as a witness.

The prosecution asked the witness to describe how he got to know Bobrisky.

Temitope stated: “The EFCC has information on people who frequently spray Naira at events in Lagos. Based on this, the EFCC dispatched an operation team to keep an eye on and watch the activities of people who regularly engage in this behavior.

“Normally, we check social media accounts and event venues to find out where There is misuse of the Naira.

“We discovered videos on social media during the workout showing the defendant mistreating the Naira.

After watching the video, our group burned it onto a CD.

Consequently, the defendant received a letter of invitation. Upon accepting the invitation. The video of the defendant dousing Segun Johnson with cash was shown to him. He attested to the fact that he appeared in the video.

The defendant also saw an event at the Island Circle Mall. There were 400k spent in total.

The defendant was also shown a different film at an event center in Ikeja and Aja Junction, Ikorodu. He acknowledged dousing all of the tapes with cash.

After that, he gave his own written statement.
The statement and videos were then presented by the prosecutor. The defense group made no objections.

They were accepted as exhibits by the court, which designated them as Exhibits 1 and 2, respectively.

The prosecutor addressed the court, saying, “That is the case of the prosecution and we pray the defendant be convicted as charged, my lord.”

Justice Awogboro declared in a bench decision that the offender was found guilty as charged.

However, Bobrisky begged for forgiveness, claiming he was ignorant of the legislation regarding the abuse of Naira.

After the judge informed him that not knowing the law was not an acceptable defense, Bobrisky retorted, “I know my lord.”

In addition, he addressed the judge, saying, “My lord, please provide me another opportunity to employ my platform to teach and enlighten my audience about money spraying.

As an influencer, I have over five million social media followers.” I would make a video and post it on my page to inform folks about money spraying.

“My lord, I regret what I did and I won’t do it again. This is my first offense.

In addition, his attorney requested the judge to give Bobrisky a non-custodial sentence with the possibility of a fine, saying that he had turned a new leaf.

Sentencing has been postponed until April 9 by Judge Awogboro.

Bobrisky faces six months in prison, a N50,000 fine, or both as a result of the conviction.

The CBN Act of 2007 stipulates in Section 21 (1) that “anyone who tampers with a coin” or note issued by the Bank is guilty of a crime and, upon conviction, faces a minimum sentence of six months in jail, a maximum fine of N50,000, or both.
